Pilgrimage

One of Gulliver’s earliest design projects, Pilgrimage, was created using Unity and stands out as a playable, immersive journey. Inspired by a personal experience in Japan, the project aimed to provide an escape from the challenges of reality, offering a serene environment designed to encourage introspection and peace.

The gate is an entryway into an unknown place, or a place of great significance; it is a threshold, and many connect the living to the dead. In Japan, the 鳥居 (Torii Gate) is used to distinguish the sacred shrine grounds from the human world. The ordinary to the unordinary. Once you have passed across the Torii, you have entered the realm of the 神 (Gods). Shintoism, the ancient, indigenous Japanese belief, tells stories of gods who reside in the most beautiful parts of the country. Pilgrimage is made to pay respects these deities, scattered through the lands. In this artwork Gulliver illustrates his personal pilgrimage, a significant and profound moment in his life. He is stripped of extremely toxic traits, allowing himself to be exposed to the tranquillity, love and importance of life. This moment was the true interaction that moulded his growth into an adult.
