wav.ie

wav.ie is an intersensory exhibit set in a virtual ocean. Visitors are invited to interact with the sights, sounds, smells and objects of the ocean and leave their own translations of how they experience the exhibit.

wav.ie was held on the 24/5/24 from 5pm to 7pm in the black box at RMIT. We had a great turn out with many visitors who experienced the intersensory exhibit as well as leaving their own translations and feedback which we used to create our case study.

The wav.ie exhibit allowed us to research how people interact with intersensory translations. We have collated this research into a case study which is available to download and read using the link below.

In summary, we found that most visitors prefered more literal/objective translations over poetic/subject translations. However, this preference was not reflected in the types of translations that vistors left, instead most visitors wrote poetic/subjective translations.
